Obituary

The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Mr. Hoyt Max Jones, age 83, of New Stansbury Road, Turtletown, TN who passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 in the Parkridge Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Jones was a native of Polk County and was a son of the late Sidney and Maggie Hughes Jones. He was retired after working forty one years as a Train Conductor with the Railroad Department of the Tennessee Copper Company. He was a member of the Ducktown Lodge # 241 F&AM and was a 32nd degree with the Scottish Rite. He was a Veteran of W.W.II having served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilford Jones and sisters, Geneva Weaver and Wilma Melton.He is survived by his loving wife of sixty one years, Opal Loudermilk Jones of the home; one daughter, Susie and husband Bobby Baliles of Turtletown, TN; two grandchildren, David and Doug Baliles, both of Turtletown, TN; one great grandchild, Abigail Baliles. Many other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 P.M. from the Mount Vernon Baptist church with Rev. Glen Stiles and Rev. Paul Ray Harper officiating. Music will be by Edward Vest. Pallbearers should meet at the funeral home by 12:00 p.m. Saturday. They include, Markie Huffman, Doug Prince, Brian Todd, Larry Allen, Kenny White, Mike Loudermilk, Danny Allison and Jerry Melton. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Loudermilk, Jess Loudermilk, Jerry Loudermilk, Claude Queen, Jr., James Johnson, Bob Barkley, Jr., Jack Bigham, Mike Mooreland, Ray Odom, Cole Giovannoni and Rick Boring and should meet at the church by 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with a graveside Masonic service conducted by the Ducktown Lodge # 241 F&AM. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
