Mrs. Hester Louise Key, age 91, passed away March 13, 2014. Born in Union County, she was the daughter of the late George Willis and Kelly Christopher Woody. She was also preceded in death by her husband , Sidney Key. Mrs. Key was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Maybelle Ward (Roger Cochran), Kathy and Homer Hunter, Kathryn Franklin all of Morganton, GA, Carol Ross of Mineral Bluff, GA, Heather Jewell of Jasper, GA, Trent Hunter of Morganton, GA; stepson and wife, Guy and Ethel Key of Blue Ridge. GA; step-grandchildren, JoAnn Hicks, Pam Singletary, Gaylon Key, Faye Davenport and Stanley Key; great nieces and nephews, Keylee, Kendyl, Braden and Bree. Funeral Services were conducted on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Pope officiating. Music was provided by Marilyn Thomas. Interment followed in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Trent Hunter, Chad Mathis, Bryan Jewell, Steve Mathis, Paul Singletary and Robbie Mathis.
