Mr. Herman Charles Dean, Sr., age 72, of Mineral Bluff, GA, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008, in the Fannin Regional Hospital. Born in Cherokee County, NC he was the son of the late Clarence Guy and Lilly Elizabeth Rice Dean. Mr. Dean had worked for Akins Funeral Home for a number of years and more recently at Dee's Gas Station in McCaysville. He was a member of the Kingtown Baptist Church. He was also an avid sports fan and coin collector. He was preceded death by his wife of forty years; Mildred Christina Dean and one daughter; Lois Ann Johnson. Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Herman Charles Dean, Jr. and Diana of Gainesville, GA, son, Dwight David Dean of Dahlonega, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Earl Daniel and Bea Dean of Stockbridge, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Dean, Jason Charles Dean and wife Leslie, Joshua James Dean and Kelly Rannell Johnson. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Jerry Rice officiating. Music was provided by Vicky Whittenbarger and Delores Gibbs. Pallbearers were Bethel Rice, Billy Joe Rice, Wesley Corn, Jason Dean, Joshua Dean, and Ray Dean. Interment followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Culberson, NC.
