The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Herbert Lee Pack, age 81, of McCaysville, Ga., who died Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Ga. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Copper Basin, son of the late Willard and Pearl Patterson Pack. He was a well known area businessman, having operated several retail sales establishments in the Copper Basin. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Pack. He is survived by his wife Arlene Taylor Pack of the home, four sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Kathy Pack of Copperhill, Tenn., Stanley and Sue Pack of McCaysville, Ga., Todd and Lisa Pack of McCaysville, Ga., and Stacy and Kim Pack of Jasper, Ga., one sister, Joan (Pack) Botts of Chattanooga, Tenn. , twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be conducted at Crestlawn Cemetery at 4:00 PM Friday, December 4, 2009, with Rev. Harold Willis and Rev. Mitchell Taylor officiating.
