The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Helen Marie (Plemmons) Porter, age 80, of Blue Ridge, who died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, Ga. She was born in Polk County, Tennessee, daughter of the late Floyd Plemmons and Dollie Garrett Plemmons. She was a member of Cherry Log Baptist Church, and a member of the Morganton Eastern Star Chapter. She is survived by her husband Walter Porter of the home; two daughters, Tammy (Porter) Collis of Blue Ridge, Ga., and Sherry (Porter) Jarrard of Ellijay, Ga. one son, Gary Porter of Blue Ridge, Ga., one sister, Charlotte Carruth of Hiram, Ga., two brothers, L.D. Patterson of Hiram, Ga., and Sammy Patterson of Blue Ridge, Ga., four grandchildren, Brandon and Greg Stepp, Jessica Franklin and Garrison Porter, one great-grandchild, Aubree Franklin and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be at Akins Chapel at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2011, with Rev. Mike Collis officiating. Music will be by Patsy Beavers. Interment will be at Chastain Memorial Park. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jacob Franklin, George Ensley, Kevin and Jason Carruth, L.D.
