Helen Virginia Elliott Jones of Blue Ridge passed away Monday, December 6, 2010. Mrs. Jones was well known for her participation in civic, church and social events in the community and was the widow of businessman, Jack E. Jones, known for his business interests and promoting Blue Ridge. She and the late Mr. Jones were always proud to live in Blue Ridge and be a part of all that is had to offer. She was a charter member of Blue Ridge Garden Club, a former member of the Book Club and Sewing Club. She was also on the zoning board of the city of Blue Ridge. She was known by friends as a gracious and loving person. She loved her church, Blue Ridge United Methodist, and was a faithful member until recent years when she became home bound. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack Jones, Jr. and Larissa Jones, daughter Frances Schneble and her husband Ted, and daughter Susan Shulman and her husband Jerry. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marjorie Fagen Elliott of Villa Rica, Ga., four grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Ware, of Chattanooga, Lisa (Jay) Jones of Flintstone, Ga. , Thomas (Heather) Lester of Jacksonville, Fl. and Christopher Jones of Knoxville, Tn. She is also survived by six great grandchildren. Services were held at Blue Ridge United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2010. Internment is in the Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Akins Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Fannin Regional Hospital and all the staff who cared for her during her recent illness, Life Care Center of Copper Basin and the loving staff and new friends that she established while there and especially for the care and devotion of her beloved caregiver for the past few years, Peggy Shepherd.
