Mrs. Helen Ruth Hancock, age 88, of Harrison, TN, formerly of McCaysville, GA, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the LifeCare Center in Ooltewah, TN. Mrs. Hancock was born in McCaysville, GA on June 18, 1923 to the late Charlie Hughes and Oakley Falls Hughes. She worked in the Cosmetics section of McCaysville Pharmacy and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her huband Buford C. Hancock; a son, Charles Reed Davis; stepbrothers, Johnny Bob Hughes and Billy Joe Hughes; and a stepsister, Patricia Hughes. She is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn Taylor of Harrison, TN; a granddaughter, Christina Raquael Taylor of Kennesaw, GA;stepbrother, Michael Hughes of Murphy, NC; andstepsisters, Sue Morris of Murphy, NC and Hilda Hughes of Murphy, NC. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Renny Whittenbarger officiating. Pallbearers were Randall Bell, Randy Bell, Al Moody, Michael Moody, Justin Moody, and Rick Newberry. Honorary pallbearer will be Gary Harris. Interment followed in Pan-Will Cemetery.
