Helen "Nonna" Sue Hall Brown, age 90, of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Helen was born on November 1, 1935, to the late Otis Juan Hall and Emily Alice Boring Hall.
Nonna was raised on a farm and understood that life can be hard but also enjoyable when you are one of nine children. She married Paul Brown at the age of 18 and continued a hardworking life helping him on poultry farms while caring for her four children. She loved entertaining family and friends, cooking great meals, playing Rook all night long, and throwing awesome Halloween parties. Nonna helped raise many younguns, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her faithful dog Smokey.
Nonna used much of her free time woodworking and making crafts. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. A woman with simple needs, she didn’t pass on a meal of crab legs or popcorn shrimp. Sweet tea and coffee were some of her daily pleasures. An avid reader, it was rough on Nonna as her eyesight failed. She could still keep up with “her stories” listening to General Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul Brown; daughter, Karen Brown; parents, Otis and Emily Hall; and siblings, Edna "Pony" Terry, Stanley Hall, Lloyd Hall, and Ted Hall.
Helen is survived by her children, Carmen (John) Rogers, Kevin Brown, and Kelly (Mike) Legg; grandchildren, Matthew Rogers, Natalie Rogers Quintana, Casey Brown, Hannah Cronan, Ethan Brown, Claire Brown, Lexie Rittenhouse, and Ava Brown; great-grandchildren, Connor Brown, Bianca Suggs, Madelyn Rogers, Bohdi Rogers, and Rome Cronan; and siblings, Lenora Owens, Rex (Delora) Hall, Martha Raper, and Kathy Carruth.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 4:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb of Copperhill Chapel with Bro. Johnny Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Connor Brown, Ethan Brown, Jarred Cronan, Brandon Rittenhouse, Matthew Rogers, and Amanda "Pooka" Brown. The family will receive friends at the Akins-Cobb of Copperhill on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
