IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hazel Marie
Bell
June 2, 1938 – March 22, 2023
Mrs. Hazel Marie Bell, age 84, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on March 22, 2023 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. She was born in Fannin County, GA to the late Claude W. and Lucy Hughes Morris. After both of her parents passed away, she was raised by her Aunt, Stella B. Patterson at the age of 8. She was the first graduating class of West Fannin High School in 1956. Hazel then moved to Atlanta where she began her career with Bell South/ATT of 32 years and retired as a Chief Operator. During her career, she volunteered much of her time with the Telephone Pioneers of America with the Dogwood Chapter No. 84. There, she served as president and organizing many charitable events. After retirement, she spent most of her time on the beaches of Dog Island at her home, walking the beaches, fishing the surf, throwing the cast net, and entertaining family and friends. Hazel also enjoyed being her husband, Harley's, first mate on their boat "Two Bells". She loved working in her flower garden or resting in the cool with a good book. Hazel was known for being adventurous; water skiing, traveling, and flying as a licensed pilot which was how they discovered their home, on Dog Island. She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and adoptive mother, Stella B. Patterson; sister and brother-in-law, Doris Jean and Charles "Buddy" Newberry; brothers, Jerry Wayne Morris and infant Frank Carson Morris.
Survivors include husband of 67 years, Harley J. Bell of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Evon and Barrett Creech of Blue Ridge, GA; niece, Donna Gray of Blue Ridge, GA; and great nieces, Jerrica and Chase Green, Michaela Limburg and Emily Gray and her fiancee, Dalton Tankersley.
