Mrs. Harriet Ann Hyde Barnes, age 74, of Morganton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 7, 2025. She was born on July 16, 1950, in McCaysville, Georgia, to the late Sherman McKinley Hyde and Grace Alice Cearley Hyde.
Mrs. Barnes worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Pruitt Healthcare, where she found joy in taking care of others. In her free time, Harriet loved cooking large meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed canning, sharing the fruits of her labor with loved ones.
Above all, Harriet cherished her family, and her greatest joy came from being surrounded by them.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Howard, Logan, Aretta, Vera, and Rosie.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Mr. Lensey Lee Barnes; son, James McKinley Bell; step-sons, David Barnes and Justin Barnes; grandchildren, Anthony Sandelier, Blake Satterfield, and Tristian Bell; great-grandchildren, Brock Satterfield, Briar Satterfield, and Brooklyn Satterfield; sister, Linda Ray; many other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Joey Buchanan officiating. Interment followed in the Crestlawn Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Anthony Sandelier, David Barnes, Butch Anderson, Daniel Ray, Rocky Hyde, and Scott Grant. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers were Larry Tankersly, John Griswold, and Terry Hilton. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
