Gregory Dean Shields, age 63, of Turtletown, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025 where he resided with his niece Carrie and her husband, Raymond Beaver. He was born on July 22, 1962 in Copperhill, to the late Dean Olin Shields and Sara Jean Truelove Shields. Greg served in the United States Army. Later he worked for many years in the construction industry. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Cynthia Luann Clore and Timothy Mark Shields.

Greg is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn Walter; granddaughter, Savannah Rose Levitski; sisters, Kimberley Sue Panter, Karen Elaine (John) Hawkins, and Constance Mylissia (Joe) Armstrong; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family visited with friends on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM from Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Greg to your local animal shelter.
