The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Grace Lou Collins, age 95, of Copperhill, who passed away Monday, November 10, 2008. Grace was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a member of the New Hope Holiness Church. She was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Ella Reid Montgomery, her husband, Rev. Wade Collins, Sr, children, Annie Lee, Betty Jean, Arlisa, Guinn and Robert Daniel, four grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.She is survived by sons, Paul and wife, Dora Collins, Roy and wife, Hazel Collins, Wade Jr., and wife Annette Collins and Dwight "Ike" and wife, Pearl Collins all of Copperhill,TN; five daughters, Louise Harris of Gastonia, NC, Mary Jane Trantham of Copperhill,TN, Marie and husband Ron Harris of Gastonia, NC, Dorothy and husband, Earl Tipton of Copperhill, TN, Helen and husband Danny Whitener of Copperhill, TN; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Many other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 13, at 11:00 AM from the New Hope Holiness Church with Pastor Jeremy Tipton, Pastor John Prater, Brother Marty Coggins officiating. A memorial will be by Caleb Collins. Music will be by Bridgett Harris and Cathy Ledford. Pallbearers include, Ike Collins, Ricky Harris, Chris Trantham, Eric Whitener, Brian Collins and Jeff Collins; Honorary pallbearers include, Doug Collins, Tim Harris, Matthew Whitener, Marty Coggins, Rickey Ledford, Bobby Owensby and Roger Owensby. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Collins will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
