Sue Stuart Kimsey, beloved mother of Kenton, Steve, and Jon, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 17th, after a brief illness.
A longtime resident of Turtletown, Tennessee, Sue was known for her fine Southern cooking, her beautiful gardens, and her no-nonsense approach to life, qualities that endeared her to everyone who knew her.
Sue was born on November 4th, 1939 in Chattanooga, and moved to McCaysville, Georgia at age 10. Sue was a proud graduate of West Fannin High School, Class of 1957, and Young Harris College, Class of 1959. In 1961, she married Don Kimsey, and together they raised their three boys on Kimsey Dairy Road, attending more ballgames than they could count, faithfully filling their pew at Turtletown Baptist Church, and tending their bountiful garden. In later years, Sue enjoyed being surrounded by her four grandsons - Ben, Matthew, Devon, and Peyton.
In addition to her sons and grandsons, Sue is survived by her sister, Martha Millholland (Randal); her brother, Bill Stuart (Joanie); and a wide circle of family and friends who will long remember the generosity behind an occasional peck of okra or canned beans she loved to share.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her brothers, Cecil Stuart (Sheila) and John Stuart (Patsy); and her parents, Jack and Ouida Stuart.
Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Beverly Kimsey for the loving care she provided to Sue.
