Gloria Louise Hitt, age 89, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 in Blairsville, GA. She was born on February 20, 1932 in Seattle, King County, WA to the late Ballard Ransom and Amy Mitchell Ransom during the Great Depression. Gloria graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in nursing. She began working for Boeing which eventually brought her to Marietta, GA where she met her husband, Jeff at church. While in Marietta, Gloria also served as a psychiatric nurse at Cobb General Hospital. Gloria retired to Blue Ridge, GA with her husband where she became a full-time wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Gloria served as a matriarch of her family and was a devout Christian that believed in helping those around her. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Gloria is preceded in death by parents; husband, Jeff Hitt; children, Susan Raybon, David Hyatt, Donald Hyatt, Robert Hitt; and grandson, Maverick Wehunt. Survivors include her children, Cynthia Dalola and Daniel Hitt; grandchildren, Jeff, Allen, Matthew, Jenny, Gayle, Daniel, Erin, and Grant; 14 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Charles Walls officiating. Music was provided by Jenny Drummonds.
