The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mr. Glenn William, better known as "Tom" Thompson, age 88, of McCaysville, GA who passed away on Friday March 5, 2010 in the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Born in Mile City, MO he was the son of the late Clarence William and Hazel Davis Thompson. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the United States Army as a Ranger. Mr. Thompson was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the McCaysville Church of Christ and is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Thompson. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Annamariea Thompson of Epworth, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Frank Licavoli of Chesterfield, MI; brother, James Thompson of Barnesville, OH; grandchildren, Paul Licavoli, Randall Thompson, Frank Licavoli and Jason Thompson; great grandchildren, Andriana, Frank M., Collin, Jace, Neko, Frank P., Anthony, Daylan, Faith, Haley, Noah, Logan and Willow. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday March 10, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Bill Johnston and Min. Keith Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow in the Church of Christ Cemetery with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
