Albert "Glenn" Sparks, age 94, of McCaysville, GA, passed away on June 5, 2019 in Gainesville, GA. Born in Copperhill, TN on May 17, 1925, he was the son of the late William Olin and Susie Parson Sparks. He enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII. Glenn worked for a number of years as a Safety Inspector for the Tennessee Chemical Company and later retired from the Fannin County Tax Assessors office. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill and McCay Lodge #423 F&AM. The last of four children, Glenn was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Nicely, Francis Jean Taylor and William Kimsey Sparks. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Rachel Grayson Sparks of the home; two children and their spouses, Glenn "Calvin" and Debi Sparks of Mathews, NC and Dani and Jim Quintrell of Copperhill, TN; grandchildren, Weston (Chandler) Quintrell, Britton Quintrell, Jennifer (Brian) Wetzel, and Natalie (Jason) Howie; great grandchildren, Autumn Howie, Eli Howie, Max Mildenberger, Haley Wetzel and Abby Wetzel; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Taylor officiating. Music was provided by Ed Vest, Ryan Norton and Holly Norton. Interment followed in the Crestlawn Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Weston Quintrell, Britton Quintrell, Gary Taylor, Eric Thorsen, Michael Earley and Pete Kusek. Military honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard, Masonic Rites were provided by McCay Lodge #423 F&AM, concluded with a Memorial Dove Release.
