Glenn Edwin ONeill, age 86 of Blue Ridge passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Blue Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care. He was born on March 7, 1935, on Staten Island, NY, the only child of the late Michael Edwin ONeill of County Wexford, Ireland and Louise Bridewell ONeill of Birmingham, AL. Glenn was a graduate of Hueytown High School, Hueytown, AL, and he attended Bradley University. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force after twenty-four years of service, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration in Key West, FL for eleven years. He was a member of Hemptown Baptist Church, Past Master of Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F&AM and 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, infant son, Patrick Terrence ONeill, and granddaughter, Amy M. Cox. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Merle Ione ONeill of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter, Glenda Ann Frazier (Tim) of Quinlan, TX; son, Michael David ONeill (Debra) of Quinlan, TX; grandson, Colton ONeill; grandson-in-law, Robby Cox and great-grandchildren, Sydney Michell Cox, and Riley Edwin Cox. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music will be provided by Debbie Jones and Brian Huffman. Masonic Rites will be provided by the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #67 F&AM. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Andy Johns, Jim Culberson, Tim Frazier, Tyler Johns, Ty Johns, and Travis Pennypacker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Gideon's International at P.O.
