Glen Edwin Spurling, age 75, of Turtletown passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Fannin Regional Hospital. He was born in Copperhill, on September 23, 1945, to the late James E. Spurling and Christine Runion Spurling. Glen served his country as a member of the United States Army, and following his service, he worked as an operating engineer. Glen enjoyed running the roads wheeling and dealing. He was always looking for another project to tinker with in his garage while "shooting the bull" with his family and friends. Glen loved his family, and one of his favorite things was his mama's cooking. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as, sister and brother-in-law, Florence and David Deal. Glen is survived by his daughters and spouses, Marcella Spurling and Matthew Thrower of Shelburne Falls, MA; Glenda Spurling and Dennis Gibson of Ashfield, MA;siblings and spouses, Edward and Christine Spurling of Benton, TN, Larry and Janice Spurling of Turtletown, TN, and Marli and JD Price of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Crystal (Tyler Jarvenpaa) Spurling-Wetterwald, Seraphina Gibson, Emma Thrower, Ethan Thrower, and James Gibson; as well as, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM. Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill will be in charge of the arrangements.
