Mrs. Gladys Garren Swofford, age 90, of the Blue Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care, formerly of Greenback, TN, passed away on March 5, 2017. Born in Fannin County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Garren and Bonnie McDaris Garren. She was a retired secretary for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service after thirty years of service. She was a long time member of the Morganton Baptist Church in Greenback, TN and was a fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also preceded in death by two husbands , Clifford Holland and Ray Swofford; and two grandchildren, Justin and C.J. Holland.Survivors include her son, Roy Clifford "Joe" Holland and wife Teressa of Greenback, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kathleen "Peggy" Lovell and husband William of Blue Ridge, GA; sister, Polly M. Millholland of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren, Billy Lovell, Jill Edmondson, Scott Holland, Jason Holland, Jason Price and Deanna Evans; great grandchildren, Lilly Lovell, Dyland Holland, Justin Holland, Cade Price, Corbin Price, Austin Price, Chase Johnson, Colt Evans, Haley Chambers, Ashley Edmondson, Kelsey Edmondson; and one great great grandchild, Harper Chambers.Funeral services were conducted at the Morganton Baptist Church in Greenback, TN on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Self, Rev. Brian Whitfield and Jason Holland officiating. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Jason Holland and Dr. Brian Whitfield officiating. Music was by Robin Sims, Donna Housley, Sue Martin, Gene Hodge and Teresa Chastain. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: Rick Harris, Jeff Whitehead, Steve Holland, Billy Lovell, Scott Holland, Jason Price and Jason Holland. Flowers will be acceptable however, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Swofford to the Morganton Baptist Church at 4800 Sinking Creek Rd. Greenback, TN 37742.
