Gladys Patterson Dunn, age 95, of Epworth, Georgia, died peacefully on June 30, 2019 surrounded by her children after a brief illness. Gladys was born in Copperhill, Tennessee to the late Leander Jefferson Patterson and Mamie Ritchie Patterson on November 7, 1923. She grew up on a farm in North Georgia and was the 6th child of a total of 7 children. Her siblings are Lester Clyde, Ernest Jefferson, Jessie Roy (Bill), Herbert Roland, and James Luke (Vic) all of whom have preceded her in death. Her surviving sister, Lola Mae Haren, resides in Epworth, GA. Gladys met Edward Howard (Ed) Dunn while attending Church and married shortly thereafter. They were married for over 50 years before Eds death nearly 26 years ago. Gladys is survived by her three children, James Steven (Steve) Dunn of Ooltewah TN, Patricia Sue (Patsy) Stuart of Griffin GA and Sharon Dunn Rudy and husband Harvey of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, John David Stuart and wife Jennifer, Michael Ryan Stuart and wife Janet, Greg Matthew Stuart and wife Kelly and Lauren Renee Rudy all of the Atlanta area; three great grandchildren, Allyson Stuart, John (Jack) Stuart, and Olivia Stuart, as well as and many other nieces and nephews. Her son-in-law John Melvin Stuart passed away recently.Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, decorating her home, traveling on long driving vacations throughout the United States, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and The Weather Channel and taking care of her cats. Perhaps most of all, she loved hosting wonderful family gatherings for holidays and spending time with family. She will be fondly missed. Gladys was a member of Epworth First Baptist Church and will be laid to rest at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery next to her late husband.
