Mr. Gilliam Guy Key, age 92, of Epworth, GA passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Mr. Key was born on May 15, 1930 in Fannin County to the late Sidney and Minnie Mathis Key. He retired from the Tennessee Copper Company after having serving in several positions there. He was an avid hunter in his younger years and also enjoyed farming and gardening. He is remembered as being a good husband and great father. Mr. Key was very independent in nature and honest to the bone. He very much enjoyed his walks with his good friend and neighbor, John Chastain. He was a Christian and a member of Colwell Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Key, a brother, Jack Key, and sister-in-laws, Rose Key and Bonnie Mashburn.

He is survived by his children, Stanley and Sandra Key of Mineral Bluff, Jo An (Late Laddie Hicks) Hicks of Epworth, and Fay and Jerry Davenport of Cumming; grandchildren, Alice and Robert Holloway, Paul and Kerri Hicks, David Hicks, Amy and Wade Bennett, and Jeremy Davenport; great grandchildren, Autumn Holloway, Kiersten Holloway, Sawyer Holloway, Abby Bennett, Mason Hicks, Justin Hicks, Luke Hicks, and Natalie Hicks.

Graveside services were held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Colwell Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Mashburn officiating. Pallbearers were John Chastain, Jeremy Davenport, Wade Bennett, Paul Hicks, David Hicks, and Robert Holloway. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Mashburn, Reid Mathis, and G.W. Mathis.
