Mr. Gilbert John Lima, age 95, of McCaysville, GA, passed away June 19, 2019 in the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta, GA. He was born in Providence, RI, to the late Manuel and Teresa DeSilva Lima. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1941-1945. He served on the USS Homme Richard, Boxer and Charger. He had served as a police officer for many years in Rhode Island and later as Police Chief in south Pasadena, FL. Survivors include his companion, Mary B. Wyble of McCaysville, GA; nieces, Rebecca Duchess, Kimberly Bently and Scarlet Bently. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the Crestlawn Cemetery with Rev. Sammy Ledford officiating. Military honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
