Mr. Gilbert Riley Bowers, age 68, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 in Ellijay, GA. He was born on January 11, 1955 in Copperhill, TN to the late Joseph Andy Bowers and Willie Ledford Bowers. Gilbert was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his siblings, Carolyn (Johnny) Cochran of Blue Ridge, GA, Billy (Eva Lee) Bowers of Blue Ridge, GA, Bobby (Patsy) Bowers of Chatsworth, GA, Katherine (Randy) Godfrey of Blue Ridge, GA, Steve Bowers of Ellijay, GA and Debra (Danny) Helms of Blue Ridge, GA; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Mark Huff officiating. Music was provided by Brian Huffman. Interment followed in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Danny Helms, Matthew Kirby, Mike Bowers, Don Watson, Conner Bowers, and Jody Bowers. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 15, 2023 prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour of 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinscobb.com
