Mrs. Gertrude Parris, age 77, of the Blue Ridge Health Care passed away on Monday March 3, 2008. Born in Fannin County she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Ada Parr Guy. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Parris had previously worked for the Pepper Plant in Blairsville, GA and Woodcraft in Ellijay, GA. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church. Mrs. Parris was preceded in death by two brothers Clyde and John Guy. Survivors include her husband, Claude Parris of Blue Ridge, GA; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James Parris and Ronnie and Sue Parris all of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Larry Long of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Eugene Guy of Epworth, GA; sister, Frances Ramsey of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Larry Timothy Long, Phillip Brandon Long, Sam Parris, Trig Parris, Cindy Crowder, Jimmy Parris, Sherry Schuknecht and Chad Parris; great grandchildren, Hayleigh Alexis Long, Hayley Parris, Rusty Crowder, Brooke Crowder, Jacob Parris, Bradley Schuknecht, Raven Schuknecht, Bradley Parris and Savannah Parris. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Pickelsimer, Rev. Jerry Ramsey, and Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Music was provided by Crystal Hall and Joann and Greg O'Neal. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery (Airport Rd.) with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brandon Long, Sam Parris, Trig Parris, Jimmy Parris, Sam Guy and Robert Guy.
