Born in Long Beach, CA, he was the son of the late Garland J. Vaughn and Nora Richards Vaughn. He was an ASE Certified auto mechanic who worked in auto parts sales. He was of the Baptist faith and was a United States Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debra R. Vaughn of Hazel Green, AL; son, Justin Randall Vaughn of Hazel Green; uncles, Raymond Vaughn of Orange Park, FL and Larry "Ken" Vaughn of New Orleans; aunts and uncles, Jessie Cobb of Blue Ridge, Fannie and Roy Richards of Canton, GA, Jim Richards of Canton, GA, and Ruby Goodin of Augusta, GA; niece and nephew, Shannon and Ben Terry of Toney, AL; cousin, Mary Meredith of Atlanta, and Joyce Freeman of Orange Park, FL.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Grady Ray officiating. Music was by Beverly Thompson. Pallbearers were Justin Vaughn, Ben Terry, Jimmy Cobb, and Jason Cobb. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park with military honors by North Georgia Honor Guard. Donations in memory of Mr. Vaughn may be made to your local humane society.
