George Melvin Earley, Jr., affectionately known as Melvin, passed away, Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at his home in Blue Ridge, GA. He was 64. Melvin was born on November 28, 1956 in Fort Worth, TX to the late George Melvin Earley, Sr. and Lena Rose Abernathy Earley. He retired from Ferguson Enterprise Plant Division after a successful job as an estimator. Melvin enjoyed all things outdoors but mainly loved being on his tractor. He also enjoyed drawing. Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nina Collins. He is survived by his wife, Renee Payne of the home; children, Patrick Earley and Jody Earley both of Oakwood, GA; step-children, Kala Szlosek of Powder Springs, GA and Corey Payne of Blue Ridge, GA; his mother, Lena Rose Earley of Blue Ridge, GA; brother, Mark Earley and his wife Sherry of Ellijay, GA; nephews, Anthony Baldridge, Lucas Earley, and Quinton Earley; a niece, Lindsey Baldridge; and grandchildren, Lacey and Brooklyn Szlosek. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM from the Epworth First Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating and eulogies provided by Mr. Billy Daniels and Mr. Trae Farthing. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Billy Daniels, Trae Farthing, Greg Taylor, Mark Earley, John Nation, and Thom Stokes.
