George Elliott Arnold, age 100, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 in Blue Ridge, GA. Born on August 24, 1918 in Fayette County, PA , he was the son of the late John Watson Arnold and Olive Stevens Arnold. He was currently a member of Hemptown Baptist Church but had previously been a member of First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge for over 35 years. He owned and operated a Mobile Home Park in Miami, FL. Mr Arnold was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 76 years, Leila Vernice Porterfield Arnold.He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ron East of Blue Ridge, GA; son and daughter-in-law, George "Skip" Elliott Arnold, Jr. and wife Dotty; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 11:00 am from Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. David Whitener officiating. Music was by Brian Huffman. Pallbearers were David East, Jeff Weaver, Brannon Holt, Skip Arnold, Ron East, and Brian Huffman. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park.
