Gene Odell Chancey, age 84, of Turtletown passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at his home. Gene was born on December 4, 1940 in Turtletown the late Fred Chancey and Edith Bigham Chancey. He worked for the Tennessee Copper Company for 25 years as a repariman at London Mill, and later, as a truck driver for K&S Tank Lines. Gene was a membert of Maple Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and cattle.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edith Bigham; wife, Peggy Chancey; and brother, Norman Chancey.

He is survived by his children, Zane (Toby) Chancey and Melitte (Tony) Rose, both of Turtletown; and grandchildren, Casey Dale of Cleveland, TN, Trinity (Dylan Austin) Dyer of Turtletown, Anniston (Kai Mobley) Dyer of Turtletown, Trent Dyer and family of Boca Raton, FL, and Trevor Dyer and family of Dickinson, ND.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Donald Weaver officiating. Music was provided by Nakema Smith, Gracie Burkett, and Abby Arp. Interment followed in the Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Smith officiating. Pallbearers were Travis Luttrell, Kevin Thomas, Keith Thomas, Mike Worley, Dylan Austin, and Kai Mobley. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Rose, Tommy Taylor, Eddie Stiles, Josh Loudermilk, Kim Korn, Danny Johnson, Gerald Dockery, Ricky Dockery, Buddy Haynes, and Kenny Stuart. The family visited with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM.
