Garry Lavar Peterson, age 77, of Ranger, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 in Jasper, Georgia.

Garry was born on September 17, 1948 in Acworth, Georgia. He was a member of Ludville Church of God in Ranger, Georgia, where he enjoyed worship and fellowship. He worked for many years as a Lathe Machine Operator and Foreclift operator for Morse Controls in Hudson, Ohio. Garry loved the outdoors. He loved spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; Harold J Peterson. 

Garry is survived by his children and their spouses, John Nathan Peterson, Beronica Peterson, Ashley Swanson, Grant Swanson; grandchildren, Emily Swanson, Eli Swanson and Noah Swanson; mother and step-father, Louise Huber and Ed Huber; and sisters, Kim Woodall and Susan Hill.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Jared Raines officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Chastain Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, GA on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
