Fred "Freddie" Green, age 83, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Fannin Regional Hospital. He was born on September 10, 1938, in Blue Ridge, to the late George Albert Green and Mattie Queen Green. Freddie was of the Baptist faith. He worked for the Fannin County Road Department. He also mowed lawns and he owned Green's Garbage Service. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Rhodes Green; brothers, Wade Green, JR Green, Thomas Green, Leonard Green, Joyce Lee Green, Albert "John" Green, Robert Green, James Green, and sister, Evelyn Panter. Freddie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Peggy Green; son, Lee Green; sisters, Mildred Ellington and Margaret Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM from Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Carter officiating. Freddie will lie in state at the church on Friday, prior to the funeral, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Music will be provided by Richard White, J.C. Lewis, Margaret Lewis, and Denise Sutton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Kenny Tarpley, Albert Green, Justin Green, Gerald McMillan, Wesley Green, and Butch Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary escort will be Ricky Morgan, Jackie Rhodes, and Ferrell Rogers. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
