Dr. Fred Brenning Craddock of Cherry Log, GA. a world -renowned minister, scholar and author passed away at age 86, on March 6, 2015. He was born on in Humboldt, TN to the late Fred Brenning Craddock, Sr. and Ethel Marie Hood Craddock. Dr. Craddock received a Doctor of Theology degree from Vanderbilt University and was a retired Professor from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He was the founding Minister and Member of the Cherry Log Christian Church. After his retirement, he and his wife Nettie, and other friends formed the Craddock Center. Their mission statement is to enrich the lives of the people of Southern Appalachia through programs of education, cultural enhancement, and service, encouraging communities, families, and children to advance educationally, socially, and spiritually.Survivors are his wife, Nettie Craddock of the home, son and daughter-in-law, John Brenning Craddock and Dee of Marietta, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Lee McMahan and Greg of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, John Alvin Craddock of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Chloe Craddock of Saint Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Nathan McMahan, Gavin McMahan, Shane Reis and Kristin Lewis; four great-grandchildren, Caleb Reis, Kaitlyn Reis, Landan Reis and Logan Brenning Lewis also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cherry Log Christian Church with Dr. Tom Long officiating. Music was by Richard Lumpkin. Interment was in the Cherry Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Dr. Craddock may be made to the Craddock Center, P.O.
