Fred "Tip" Cornett, age 94, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 16, 1928 in Blue Ridge to the late Garner James Cornett and Eula Mae Pless. Tip is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ruth Taylor, William Cornett, Ed Cornett, and William "Sock" Cornett. Tip is survived by his wife, Evalee Stanley Cornett; daughter and son-in-law, Connie Sue and Stephen Reid McFarland; son, Ronnie Cornett; grandchildren, Tina Murphy, Timothy McFarland, Melissa Stampler, and Marshall Cornett; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Butch Jones officiating. Congregational music will be led by Vance Ingle. Interment will follow in the Stanley Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timothy McFarland, Marshall Cornett, David Murphy, Junior Cornett, and Jeff Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Jacobs, David Gray, and Jack Jones. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until the service hour.
