Mr. Franklin Delano Godfrey, age 74, of McCaysville, GA, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011, at his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Fannin County, son of the late Thomas Morgan Godfrey and Florence Mae Green Godfrey. He graduated from Epworth High School and was also a graduate of John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Godfrey retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company, having worked as a boilermaker and was chief planner in the maintenance department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Epworth. He was preceded in death by eight siblings, Rene, Edward (Bud), Robert Godfrey, Bonnie Queen, Edna (Sis) Holmes, Mary Lou Burnette, Helen Joslin and Eva Godfrey.He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Brown Godfrey of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Don Clement of McCaysville and Cherie and Mike Kephart of Blue Ridge, GA; one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Betty Godfrey of McCaysville, GA; two brothers-in-law, Milton Holmes of Marietta, GA and Dan Joslin of Clarkesville, GA; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Godfrey of McCaysville and Martha Godfrey of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren, Leia and Landon Clement and Morgan and Avery Kephart; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 14, at 2:00 PM from the Akins Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music was by Rev. Doug Simonds and Vernon Owenby. Interment was at Kingtown Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Ensley, Joe Boggs, Gary Kilpatrick, Bob Phillips, Edward Wilcox, Cleve Oliver and Jim Bennett, Sr. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Epworth at P.O.
