Mr. James "Frank" Porter, age 81, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Born in Fannin County, GA, he was the son of the late James Porter and Margaret Mull Porter. Mr. Porter attended the Church of Christ. He was a self employed electrician. Mr. Porter served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Porter enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Inez Kyle Porter of the home; one son, Billy (Sheila Green) Porter of Blue Ridge, GA; two daughters, Annette Porter (Gerald) Long and Vickie Porter (Terry) Stanley both of Blue Ridge, GA; two brothers, Walter Porter of Blue Ridge, GA and J.B. Porter of Yipsilanti, MI, one sister; Ruby Lee Sharp of Blue Ridge,GA; 5 granddchildren, Heather Long, Crystal Stanley Shull and her husband Adam, Ashley Stanley, Presley Porter and Raven Porter; 3 great-grandchildren, Madeleine Shull, Olivia Shull, and Deacon Shull; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Butch Jones and Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Bill Lovell, Billy Lovell, Ted Weaver, Rex Miller, Cole Staton, and James Fitts. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
