Bobby Amburn was born October 21, 1953 in Copperhill, Tennessee and died December 25, 2025 in Longview, Texas. Son of the late Oscar Forrest Amburn, Bobby is survived by his wife Debra Parker Amburn, mother Reathel Amburn, sister Cynthia Amburn, brother Spiro Amburn, niece Arbella Amburn, step-daughter and husband Jessica and Stephen Vanderbrook, step-son and wife David and Carmen Abbott; grandchildren Parker, Aidan, Bailey, Tayah and Jaxon; along with special family and friends April McFarland Amburn, Rhonda Williams Nelson, Lindsey Nelson Bodiford, Lauryn Nelson Gattis, Ann Williams and many other loved ones.
Bobby graduated from East Fannin High School in 1971 where he played Quarterback and was a two-sport lettermen in Football and Basketball. He attended Cleveland State Community College and became a carpenter and electrician. As a skilled tradesman, he worked on major construction projects such as the Orlando International Airport and other manufacturing plants throughout the Southeast. Later he obtained his license as an Insurance Adjuster and worked projects in the aftermath of many major events including the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill in Cordova, Alaska, Hurricane Andrew in Homestead, Florida, the Northridge Earthquake in Los Angeles, California, and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana.
A lover of music, Bobby loved to sing and was somewhat of a child prodigy singing in Church and at many public gatherings and special events throughout his youth and adult life. This spirit always carried with him and he had a song in his heart throughout his final days. He passed away peacefully on Christmas night. Silent Night, Holy Night, All is Calm all is Bright. Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Al Patterson and Rev. Randy Hughes officiating. Music was provided by Mary Jo Towe and Morgan Clonts. Family remarks were read by Spiro Amburn. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Copperhill, Tennessee with the following serving as pallbearers: Jerry Pack, Kenny Atkins, Spiro Amburn, Jeff Clonts, Rob Waggoner, and Rick Nelson. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers were: Phil Hurst, Lynn Ross, Bill Smith, and Danny McFarland. The family visited with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, GA on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
