Mr. Floyd Young Queen, age 84, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at his home residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Fannin County, son of the late John Henry and Nettie Stiles Queen. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by two sons, Dale and Hoyt Queen a daughter Betty Sue Queen, two brothers, Talbert and Hubert Queen and a sister, Tennie Queen.He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Mary B. (Gray) Queen of the home; one daughter, Gail (Queen) Thomas of Blue Ridge, two sons, Jackie Floyd Queen of Blue Ridge, and Joe Queen of Dalton, Ga., one sister, Mae Whitlow of Blue Ridge, Ga., six grandchildren, Stacey Ensley, Paul Queen, Gabriel Queen, Julie Collins, Amy Thomas and Shawnda Queen, five great-grandchildren, Braylon Nix, Emily Nix, Hailey Queen, Mercedes Queen and Curtis Collins; daughter-in-laws, Patsy Queen of Summerville, GA and Betty Queen of Young Harris, GA and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 28, at 3:00 p.m. from the Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Ray Queen officiating. Music was by Carol and Junior Beach, Pat Mashburn and Gilliam Farmer. Interment followed in the Church cemetery with Rev. Danny Collis officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Whitlow, Kenny Queen, Larry Queen, Junior Beach, Clyde Dilbeck and Roy Tipton. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
