Mrs. Floy Gertrude Curtis, age 76 of Epworth, GA passed away Saturday, August 11 in the Copper Basin Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Fannin County, daughter of the late Andrew Napoleon Hughes and Lillie Gertrude Hughes. Mrs. Curtis, along with her late husband Wade, owned and operated a service station in McCaysville for a number of years. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at McCaysville Church of God. Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter-in-law, Ruth Curtis; three brothers, Claude, A.J.(Slim) and Paul Hughes; four sisters, Rhoda Hughes, Violet Callihan, Elaine Stuart and Mary Green. She is survived by sons, David W. Curtis of Blue Ridge, GA and Donald and wife, Cheryl Curtis of Epworth, GA; daughter, Virginia Curtis of Blue Ridge, GA; brother, Wilburn Hughes of Ellijay, GA; sisters, Ellen and husband Otis Melton of Copperhill, TN and Alwayne Campbell of Copperhill, TN; six grandchildren, Danny Walden, Jonathan Curtis, Jeremy Curtis, Rev. Joshua Curtis, Matthew Curtis and Laura Curtis; eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. from the McCaysville Church of God with Rev. Joshua Curtis, Rev. Steve Lamb, and Rev. David McLendon officiating. Music will be by Paula Helton and Rick Curtis. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Curtis, Jeremy Curtis, Rev. Joshua Curtis, Matthew Curtis, Jimmy Green and Justin Nicholson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of Copper Basin Medical Center. Interment will follow in the Barnes Chapel cemetery.
