Mrs. Evelyn Doris Hensley Olnick, age 90, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on May 15, 2023 at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 8, 1932 in McCaysville, GA to the late Carl and Margaret Nona Cobb Crawford. She had worked as a talented hairdresser since 1960. Doris was also an Instructor at the Adult Vocation program at the Fannin County High School. She had also served on the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) which was an accrediting commission that accredited cosmetology schools throughout the United States. Doris was an inspiration and model in her profession to so many. She was also a long time member of First Baptist McCaysville/Copperhill. Her hobbies included shopping, traveling, entertaining others and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, James Calvin "Reto" Hensley and Herbert Olnick; and siblings, Brownie Crawford, Jack Crawford, Johnnie Watkins and Bob Crawford.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Denise and Clyde Shinpaugh of McCaysville, GA, Cherie Hensley and Aaron Howard of Rome, GA and Amy Hensley and fiancee, Jim Steger of Epworth, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete Crawford of Blairsville, GA, Gene and Patricia "Triss" Crawford of Morganton, GA, Jim and Sally Crawford of Blue Ridge, GA and Joe and Susan Crawford of Toccoa, GA; grandchildren, Wesley Farrer, Kegan Watkins, Donnie Tallent and Amanda Tallent; sisters-in-law, Doris Hemphill Crawford and Loretta Patterson Crawford both of Water Valley, MS; and several nieces,nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend special gratitude to Doris' caregivers, Beverly Pondel, Linda Williams, Sheila Boring and Pruitt Hospice who helped and gave so much during her illness.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Denise Caldwell. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
