Evelyn Marie Hunter, 98, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026.

She was born on March 30, 1928, in Morganton, Georgia, to the late Arthur and Alice Craig Parris. Evelyn spent many years working as a machine operator at Robert Shaw Industries.

Evelyn found joy spending time outside gardening, mowing, and weed-eating. She also enjoyed fishing and quilting. During the winter months she enjoyed putting puzzles together. She also had a passion for feeding the birds and squirrels.

She had a special fondness for sweet treats and cherished outings with her granddaughter, especially trips to get ice cream.

Above all, Evelyn loved the Lord. She was a devoted member of Mineral Bluff House of Prayer, where she found great joy in worship and singing for the Lord.


Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dewey Hunter; brothers, James Leonard Parris, Alvin Parris, and Earl Parris; and sisters, Myrtle Blunt, Grace Odom, Ellie Hughes, and Ruby Dilbeck.


She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leonard (Mary) Hunter; granddaughter, Marie Hunter; and great-granddaughter, Trinity Allen.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Larry Connor officiating. Music will be provided by the Mineral Bluff House of Prayer Choir. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Steve Gaddis, Tom Allen, Harold Dillard, Mike Key, Earl Hughes, and Frank Parris. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ted Weaver, Butch Pittman, John Walker, Kendra Newman, Maddox Newman, Roni Rymer, Jesse Chapman, Josh Chapman, Matthew Chapman, Bill Bryant, and Kenny Foster. The family will visit with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, Georgia on Monday, April 27, prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
