The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mr. Evan Winston Cruse, age 83, of Morganton, GA who passed away on Friday February 22, 2008. Born in Fannin County, GA he was the son of the late Arthur Clyde and Birdie Wilson Cruse. Mr. Cruse served his country during WWII as a sergeant in the United States Army. He was a long time member of the Concord Baptist Church. Mr. Cruse retired after many years of service for Southern Bell in Atlanta, GA as a PBX Operator. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America. Mr. Cruse was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Jean Long Cruse. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Winston David and Lynn Cruse of Cornelius, NC; daughter, Anita McDaniel of Crossville, TN; sister, Noma Morris of Morganton; three grandchildren, Katie Ellen and husband, Rod Buckwalter, Emily Anne Cruse and Andrew Winston Cruse; great granddaughter, Brooke Buckwalter.Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday February 26, at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill McGill officiating. Music will be provided by Lucy McKinney and Beverly Thompson. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Andrew Cruse, Scott Cruse, Stephen Cruse, Wayne Allen Cruse, Clyde Cruse and Kelly Cruse. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. Donations in memory of Mr.Cruse may be made to the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery Fund P.O.
