Mr. Eugene "Gene" Pack, age 85 of McCaysville, GA passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009. Born in Polk County, TN he was the son of the late Gillespie Blain Pack and Greta Bass Pack. He was a member of the Kingtown Baptist Church. Mr. Pack was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy and a member of the American Legion. As a well respected business owner, he operated Packs Service station, Packs Auto's, and operated a wrecker service for several years. He was also preceded in death by siblings, G.B. Pack, Jr., Jewell Jones, Ruby Bailey, Nola Patterson, Betty Sue Cochran, and Martha Rhea Huffman. Survivors include his wife, Frances B. Pack of McCaysville, GA; sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry and Sharon Pack of McCaysville, GA, Joe and Robyn Pack of Blue Ridge, GA, Jackie Pack of McCaysville, GA and Jon and Cindy Pack of Blue Ridge, GA; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Gary Parris and Rev. Terry Callihan officiating. Interment followed in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Grandchildren served as pallbearers and great grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements. .
