Eugene Melvin "Jack" Adcock Jr., age 80, of Turtletown, TN, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007 in the Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, TN. A native of the Copper Basin area Mr. Adcock was retired from Cities Service as a security guard and was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran. Mr. Adcock was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Adcock, Sr.; his wife, Vivian Doris Gibson Adcock; brothers, Clifford Adcock, J.B. Adcock and Fred Adcock; sisters, Mozelle Adcock, Nola Mae Price and Jeri Nicholson.He is survived by a daughter, Kay Ritchie of Epworth, GA; a son Melvin Jack Adcock of Carianne Hills area of Copperhill, TN; mother, Cora Weaver Adcock of Turtletown, TN; brothers, C.W. Adcock of Turtletown, TN, Joe Adcock of Chatsworth, GA and Randy Adcock of Turtletown, TN; sisters, Jenell Zuniga of Atlanta, GA, Linda Maughan of Turtletown, TN and Debbie Hensley of Turtletown, TN; a special friend, Joy Dale Waldrop of Tampa, FL; two grandchildren, Julie Welch of McCaysville, GA and Jason Adcock of Havelock, NC (active duty in the US Marines serving in Iraq); two great grandchildren, Tori Welch and Jacob Adcock. He is also survived by his church family at Zion Hill Baptist Church.Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at 8:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with the Rev. G.W. Mathis officiating. Music was by Mark Taylor. Interment followed on Wednesday, November 7, at 11:00 a.m. from the Zion Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Taylor, Jerry Nix, Bill Maughan, Rodney Welch, Danny Richie and Robert Dale. Honorary pallbearers were James Hamby, Bob Griffith and Herman Boring.
