Ellen Pope, age 78, of Epworth passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at her home. Ellen was born on June 8, 1947 in Ellijay, GA to the late Jess Floyd Postell and Lucy Jane Watson Postell. She was a LPN at Copper Basin Medical Center where she was an excellent nurse taking much pride in taking care of others. Before her time nursing, Ellen was a dedicated employee at Levi's for 11 years. She was of Christian faith, and her passion was singing for the Lord. Ellen enjoyed gardening, as well as, canning and pickling of her harvest. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and big events in the community or at church. Ellen's greatest joy was spending time with her family, and creating traditions with them such as enjoying popcorn and grape kool-aid.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Lucy Postell; and children, Jessie Elard Pope and Matthew David Pope.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Donnie Pope; daughters and sons-in-law, Lea & Dolores Rosas, and Penny & Dalton Davis; son, Mark Daniel Pope; grandchildren, Dolores (Khisha) Rosas, Rebecca (Chad) McClure, Lupe (Abby) Rosas, Myra Hughes, Derek (Brianna) Rosas, Jason (Cassy) Brown, Sierra (Mater) Jones, Hannah (Jacob) Nemitz, and Hailey Pope. Great-grandchildren, Maddie, Benjamin, Paisley, Elsie, Skylier, Paxton, Reighlyn, Noella, Jasper, Kayden, Charleigh, Ansley, Cayde, and Dalary; siblings, Arnold & Sue Postell, Carol & George Watkins, Althea & Jim Davenport, Brenda & Dusty Patterson, and David Postell; and a host nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Music was provided by the family. Interment followed in the Hipps Chapel Church Cemetery. The pallbearers were Derek Rosas, Jason Brown, Mater Jones, Lupe Rosas, Jason Postell, and John Postell. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
