Ernest G. Simmons, age 96, of Venice, Florida passed away on June 30, 2021. He is survived by daughter, Cindy McClanahan and her husband, Gary McClanahan; son, Thomas Turrentine and his wife, Beverly Turrentine; granddaughter, Tamara Kelly and her husband, Tommy Kelly; and grandson, Travis Turrentine. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 yeas, Jo Lynn Casteel. Ernie served in the Navy during WWII. After the war, he attained a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee. He moved to Copperhill, Tennessee to work for the Tennessee Copper Company for his career. Ernie loved golfing, refinishing antiques, dancing, and his friends and family. A memorial service will be held on August 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill, 823 Ocoee St., Copperhill, TN.
