Ernest Jones, age 82, of Epworth, GA passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Sonshine Manor Personal Care Home in Blairsville, GA. He was born on November 8, 1938, in the Higdon Community to the late Mark Jones and Lela Foster Jones. Ernest retired from Tennessee Chemical Company as a miner and later worked as a builder. He was a member at Sugar Creek Baptist Church but had attended Mount Moriah Baptist Church for thirty years. Ernest served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jo Jones and daughter, Cheri Jones. Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Honorable Brian Jones (Angela) of Epworth, GA; grandchildren, Justin Payne, Zachery Jones, and Josh Jones; great-grandchildren, Kyle Jones, and Jacie Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Jones (Brenda) of Blue Ridge, GA, and Kenneth Jones (Brenda) of Blue Ridge, GA; sisters, Ruth Gwin of Cornersville, TN and Jo Jones of Blue Ridge also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport and Rev. Jerry Banks officiating. Music will be by his nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Justin Payne, Josh Jones, Zachery Jones, Kyle Jones, Todd Pack and Honorable Brian Jones.
