Effie Green Hays, age 91 of Alpharetta, GA passed away July 21, 2007 in the Vistas Hospice in Sandy Springs, GA. Effie was born and raised in bucolic Blue Ridge, GA. As the last surviving child of the late Noah Marc Green and Ellen Stanley Green, she was also preceded in death by siblings, Lloyd Green, Rex Green, Clyde Green, Worth (Doc) Green, Edith Green Ellis, Nancy Green Adams, and Edna Green Braswell. As an employee of Rich's Dept Store for twenty-six years, she achieved many sales awards including "Queen of Sales" in the Misses Dresses Dept. After retiring from Rich's Department Store in 1981, she traveled to Europe and Canada and became an avid reader. Effie is affectionately remembered as a loving, caring Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend to all who knew her.She was a member of the Church in Galloway in Galloway, OH and a former member of the Ozion Baptist Church. She touched many lives with her high energy, enthusiasm, nurturing spirit and her sense of humor. The family enjoyed her delicious cooking in particular her famous yeast rolls.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Hays Savage and David Savage, Cumming, GA, Sandy Hays, Alpharetta, GA and Jackie Hays McNair, Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren; Rev. Brent and Nancy Bond, Galloway, OH, Bridget and Bruce Barfield, Alpharetta, GA. Great-Grandchildren; Zach and Alex Bond, Amanda and Ansley Barfield. All of whom adore and miss her. Nieces; Bobbie Longino, Kay Wood, Rexanna Green, Vickie Woodward and Susie Ivey. Nephew; Max Green. Great Nephews; Robert Longino, Tom, Ron, Mike and Roger Ellis and Mathew Wood.

Funeral Services were Wednesday July 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel in Blue Ridge, GA with Rev. Brent Bond officiating. Music was by Doug Simonds. Pallbearers were Robert Longino, Ron Ellis, Tom Ellis, Mathew Wood, and George Bond. Honorary pallbearer was Max Green. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery.
Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements.
