Edward Allen Lewis, age 84, a lifelong resident of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on February 24, 2026, at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital following a short illness. Born on March 20, 1941, he was the son of the late Verlen Edward Lewis and Gaynell Gray Lewis.

Edward was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and past Sunday School Superintendent.

Edward graduated from West Fannin High School. He worked as an equipment operator for Tennessee Copper Company, Cities Service, and Tennessee Chemical for almost thirty years.

Edward was a farmer most of his life, he had a poultry farm raising broilers for almost 30 years, from 1989-2024 through the progression of Seaboard Farms to Pilgrims Cattle. As any farmer, he was a hard-worker and loved working outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Verlen Edward Lewis and Gaynell Gray Lewis; four infant siblings; and brother-in-law, Tommy Bell.

Edward is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Jo Ann Farmer Lewis of the home; son and daughter-in-law, David Edward Lewis and Jennifer Queen Lewis of Blue Ridge, GA; one grandson, Jefferson David Lewis of Blue Ridge, GA; brothers, Bobby Lewis and Glen (Joan) Lewis of Blue Ridge, GA; and sister, Lilly Bell.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be deeply missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Chastain and Rev. David Mashburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with Drew Anderson, Mark Young, Ricky Beach, Ronald Lingerfelt, George Ensley, and Brian Contardi serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Men of Damascus Baptist Church. The family will visit with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, GA on Saturday evening, March 7, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
