The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Edna (Botts) Thomas, age 89, of Morganton, Ga., who died Friday, November 20, 2009, at her home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Fannin County, daughter of the late Kimsey and Ethel Mae Patterson Botts, and wife of the late Willis Ruben Thomas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Kent; a sister, Thelma Wright, and two brothers, Dennis Botts and Hubert Bryan. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Debra Diane Thomas of Morganton, Ga., Joyce Speakes of Rex, Ga., and Darlene and her husband, Terry Ledford of Morganton, Ga.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Haskell and Peggy Thomas of McDonough, Ga., Willie Jr. and Martha Thomas of Morganton, Ga., and David and Linda Thomas of Rex, Ga.; three sisters, Lillian Fowler of Dawsonville, Ga., Marie Bradford of Morganton, Ga., and Pauline Hopson of Michigan; one brother, Herbert Bryan of Morganton, Ga.; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Monday, November 23, at 1:00 PM from the Akins Chapel with Rev. Grady Ray officiating. Music will be by Sally Kent, Martha Thomas, Gaye Sessions and Gary Drummond. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great Grandsons, Jeff Thomas, Greg Thomas, David Michael Thomas, Christopher Thomas, Dustin Gandee and Austin Collier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Howard Kent, Herbert Bryan, Terry Ledford, Jon Michael Thomas, Luke Welch, Ned Welch, Sam Coffey, Alex Coffey and Chandler Thomas.
