Mrs. Edna 'Sis' (Godfrey) Holmes, age 86, of Marietta, GA, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at her home following an extended illness. She was a native of Fannin County, daughter of the late Thomas M. and Florence Mae Greene Godfrey. She was retired from the Avon Cosmetics Company. She was also a member of Kingtown Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband, Milton N. Holmes of Marietta, GA,; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Gus Vasquez of Woodstock, GA; three brothers, Marvin Godfrey of McCaysville, GA, Franklin Godfrey of McCaysville, GA, and Robert Godfrey of Powder Springs, GA; two grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Perry Hobby and Jason Vasquez; two great-grandchildren, Chandler and Lindsey Hobby; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Sunday, May 18, at 2:00 PM from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Godfrey officiating. Interment was in Kingtown Church Cemetery in McCaysville, GA. Pallbearers were Perry Hobby, Jason Vasquez and Gus Vasquez. Honorary pallbearer was Chandler Hobby. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
