Edith Elizabeth Newton, age 85, of the Life Care Center of Ducktown went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 9, 2016. Mrs. Newton was born in Polk County to the late William Lonas and Millie Dalton Hedden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar David Newton, and siblings, William Roy Hedden, Mary Ruth Garrett and Evelyn Mason. She is survived by son, Jimmy (Margie) Newton of Ducktown, TN; grandson, Chris Newton of Ocoee, TN; brothers, Joseph (Sybil) Hedden and Dean (Betty) Hedden of Benton, TN; sisters, Peggy (R.A.) Presswood of Cleveland, TN; Lecia Colley of Reliance, TN; niece and special caregiver, Jeri Gail Garrett of Turtletown, TN; many other much loved nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, May 12th at 11:00 a.m. from the Zion Hill cemetery with Rev. Keith Smith officiating. Pallbearers include Chris Newton, A.E. Loudermilk, Terry Abernathy, Dennis Ledford, Bobby Presswood and Dwight Rymer. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
